Scott Walker, former Wisconsin Governor and National Republican Redistricting Trust Finance Chairman, issued the following statement on the Michigan Republican Party lawsuit filed today in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan to protect the constitutional rights of Michiganders that have been violated by Proposition 2.
“Proposition 2 punishes people for exercising their constitutionally protected rights – among them the right to associate with a political party. Democrats – the party of government-regulated speech – are fine with this. But Michiganians, and all Americans, should not be. I’m proud to stand with Chairman Laura Cox and the Michigan GOP as we fight for the freedoms and liberties guaranteed to us by the Constitution. Democrats and their liberal allies may want Michiganians to be quiet, but I’m confident they’re in this fight for the long haul. And the NRRT will be right there with them.”
